Does anyone else see a banding effect in the transparency of OS X Yosemite?
I just noticed it today. It's mostly invisible in my image, but when I open the notification center, the very bottom right has noticeable banding. As well as the background blur when you're logged out. Does everyone have this, and I just never noticed it? Or is it just me?

that's normal. Banding is expected on gradients and blur effects on these monitors. The smoother the gradient is, the better you can see the banding effect.

Ok, thanks. I was wondering if it was normal, as I had downloaded an app yesterday (duet) that I was going to use to connect my iPad as an external display. I ended up not using the app, and deleted it. I noticed the color banding afterwards, and wasn't sure if the app had messed up my display settings.

Seems odd that Apple wouldn't try to minimize the issue by dithering those areas.
