Hi all, I have a late 2013 13" macbook pro that has a water damaged display (I use an external display, everything else worked fine). I needed to do a clean installation of Yosemite and it appears to have completed successfully (no errors show and the recovery partition appeared). However, when I start the computer to do the initial configuration, nothing is displayed on the external monitor but the backlight of the macbook display turns on.

It looks like Yosemite will not use the external display until an account is made. But I can navigate the recovery partition without any issues on the ext display and the machine worked fine before the installation.

I tried to close the clamshell to force it to use the external display but nothing appears. Is there a way to use the recovery partition terminal to create a basic admin account and bypass all of that GUI based configuration stuff?

I know this is coming: Yes, I took it to the Genius Bar. They want to replace the logic board for $700, which I don't want to pay for. No, I don't have Apple Care. No, I do not have a time machine back up, the laptop only played movies off an external HDD/the internet. And yes, I am attempting to install El Capitian right now since it may have corrected the problem
