Yosemite Image Restore Error: Not Enough Space To Restore

Getting the above error after formatting the HD and trying to restore an image of a disk from another machine. HD has 120GB or so of space. Image is 62GB and when loaded onto an HD the space used is 83GB. I should have plenty of space for this process to image to the HD however it is failing. Anyone experienced similar issues?

I have tried scanning the image prior to restore, verifying the image, and running a checksum. Same error.

BTW if it matters it is a 2014 MacBook Air.
