So long story short when updating to yosemite on release the install froze and have 4 hours I rebooted to try and restart the process. Now I'm in a situation that is preventing me from installing on my iMacs internal drive.
If I boot up the Mac the installer comes on and fails after about 3 hours. If I boot into the recovery partition I cannot mount the Mac partition or erase it for a clean install.
If I boot into bootcamp partiton I can access all the data from the MacHD partition just fine with macdrive but I cannot format it.
In an attempt to solve the problem I booted up into the yosemite installer and installed it just fine on an external disk but when I went to format the internal drive has a whole, bootcamp partition included I am unable to. In this install of Yosemite I'm also unable to mount the macHD partition.
With all this information does anybody have any advice on how to proceed? All my important files are stored on external disks and I also have a time machine backup so I'm just looking to wipe the internal disk and do a fresh install of everything.
