We have Yosemite as the OS & MS office 2011 Outlook which the backups are failing for moving the email over to a High Sierra / MS Office 2016. We have been running Time Machine since day 1 so we are hopeful on back ups.

Does anyone know of a 3rd party application for Outlook to fix the backups?

What should be installed 1st? the new OS or Office ?

Thanks ahead of time

When you install Outlook 2016, it will import from Outlook 2011 Identity. You can do this before after updating to High Sierra.

Be sure to make a clone backup before updating.

Many users have reported that booting from clone then erasing your drive THEN update to High Sierra works better than upgrading. The new transition to APFS has issues. Importing your data after the conversion works best.

So install Outlook 2016 and hopefully I can back up the email account.

Then Make a clone? Can you explain this a little more please?

Thank you for the reply

You need a cloning utility.
There are two main ones:
- CarbonCopyCloner
- SuperDuper

Either will create a BOOTABLE cloned backup that is an exact copy of the original drive.

Both are FREE to download and try for 30 days.

Much more useful than Time Machine if you have an "I can't boot!" moment (you never have those, right?).
