I performed an install of Yosemite on my Mac book Pro and it looked like all went well but when I looked at "About this Mac" it says I am using version 10.9.5. Isn't Yosemite 10.10.5? I tried it a few times and I got the same result.

You're still on Mavericks.

Yosemite is 10.10.x. Mavericks is 10.9.x.

Did you download the right installer off the Mac App Store?

Did you install it to the correct partition?
