Hey everyone,

Here is a site http://www.freerice.com/ which provides your a platform to donate rice while you are playing quiz games and also having some fun.

For each quiz question being answered correctly, 10 grains of rice will be donated to the people in hunger all over the world.

p.s. here is also a short video about Freerice reaches Bangladesh:

Everyday, 25,000 people die from hunger, but you can save them simply by playing online quiz games, plus you got more funny and useful knowledge.
Every grain of rice you have donated matters a lot to the people in hunger.:)
( There are about 500 million people who can access to the internet, if only 100 million of whom answer 100 questions each day, then 5 million hungry people can get their meals for that single day.)

This site has been mentioned on these forums many times over the past weeks.

That being said, I love rice. The quizzes are fun too. My favorite one is where you have to fill out about 100 questions that ask things like "What's your favorite food?" and "Who is the last person you kissed?"

Oh, and the vocabulary isn't bad either.

I've liked this site for awhile, but I can't seem to get above level 46; I need to work on my vocabulary I guess.

Yeah, i love this site too, just came across it several days ago, and i have to get the online dictionary open to get above level 45. :)

And, i am still not sure having gotten it clearly after scratching my head for 2 minutes.

Yeah, totally love the english vocabularies there, and hope they can increase its french ones too. :D

this has been around for a couple years.. everytime i hear it work.. i just picture the poor people sitting and waiting for someone to answer a question for them to get ten grains.. sounds awful, but i guess it's a good idea?

lol hmm, maybe you can just simply treat it as a normal quiz game, which i think is a good one and have much fun to play.:)
Anyways, if you like quiz games, you are gona enjoy this one.;)

This seems like a scam to me. Very few people are too poor to afford rice, and they are helped by the world food organisation...

What is the history of FreeRice?

FreeRice was founded in October 2007 by John Breen. In March 2009 Mr. Breen donated the site to the UN World Food Program. In making the donation, Mr. Breen expressed his hopes that FreeRice will be able to grow over the coming years, helping to feed and educate as many people as possible throughout the world.

Can you tell me more about the UN World Food Program (WFP)?

The UN World Food Programme (WFP) distributes all of the rice that you donate to help fight hunger. It is the United Nations frontline agency in the fight against global hunger and the world's largest humanitarian organization, working closely with many other organizations in over 75 countries.

In addition to providing food, WFP helps hungry people to become self-reliant so that they escape hunger for good. Wherever possible, they www.wfp.org.

I'm crap at this myself, but I sent a link to my friend who memorises facts about countries, where they are on the map, languages etc, so she'll do good at that subject for sure! :)

:) yeah i love those map and language Qs too.

While freerice, AFAIK, is a legitimate site, we have had numerous account created here purely for the purpose of spam promoting it, and so I'm closing this thread at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
