YouTube this week reintroduced support for the iOS Share Sheet, which means that it's now possible to share videos from the iPhone Photos app and other video apps directly to YouTube.

Using the YouTube Share Sheet integration automatically imports a video to YouTube, where it can be edited and then uploaded to YouTube Shorts. Sharing a video to YouTube via the Share Sheet was an option in a prior version of the YouTube app, but it was removed back in 2018. Until this week, there was no option to use native sharing to upload to YouTube.

YouTube updated its app to version 19.47.7 yesterday, but did not mention the new Share Sheet integration. You'll need the latest version of the app to use the feature.

It's definitely a step in the right direction again. I really wish YouTube would let you choose the thumbnail for shorts though. I don't understand why that's not available.

I wonder whether Spatial Video is uploaded as such.... Since August Youtube does not accept spatial videos exported by Spatialify. I wonder if anyone else has had problems...

Wow! This is unbelievable how such a basic option took Google 10 years to implement. This is what I call innovation! Maybe in 2034 Google will finally stop censoring people and demanding IDs to set preview images for videos and shorts? Oh, I guess it won’t happen, till that time YouTube probably gonna be in the trashbin of history

Only to Youtube Shorts? Is there actually anyone who doesn't hate Shorts? It's nothing more than Google's version of the zombie-triggering-lets-keep-users-in-app-as-long-as-possible-algoritm. Yes, I'm actually guilty for developing apps with stuff like this for other companies, but I'm done with that now.

Most people that get sucked into it, transform almost instantly into this zombie-like brain mode where the only thing they can do is infinitely scroll to the next random video that learns them nothing. It's even worse for bystanders when they do this with audio on speaker. Whether it's insta, tiktok or YT shorts, it doesn't matter. Besides that it's proven to be really bad for kids, it's sometimes also kind of sad to see grown up friends get caught in this too.

Wow, share sheet support.

These big-tech companies, despite all their billions, and all their closeness in Silicon Valley, still have trouble with basic support on any other platforms but their own (and often even their own).

Will Google ever make their apps even available on a Vision Pro? Will Meta apps ever support anything but a phone?
