Hi,
I was looking for a solution to wake up my MacBook from sleep so I could remotely connect to it with Anydesk from my iPad. Everywhere I looked, you’d have to setup some sort of convoluted type of wake on lan.
So I thought let me try using the sound option on my MacBook using the Find My app on my iPad. Surely enough after I activated it I could connect via anydesk and move the cursor, however the clicks weren’t being recognised using the touch screen. So I ran the sound again and messed with the any desk app again (closing it fully and reopening it) and I was able to get it to recognise the clicks the second time round and I could login.
I’m not sure if this is a known solution, so I thought I’d share it.
I’ve only tried it from another room, but can’t see how this wouldn’t work over the internet, because anydesk will refuse to work if the MacBook is sleeping.
Oh and lastly my MacBook is connected via WiFi and I just tested waking it up via my iphones own 4g and it still works. When I connected via anydesk on the iPad again, no clicks were being recognised, but after fully shutting the app down and then opening and connecting again it works. So you don’t need to play the sound again, just fully shut down and reopen the anydesk app on your device.
Thank God this solution works, i was contemplating leaving my MacBook on 24/7 while at the same time dreading the increase in electricity costs. Now I can let it sleep oh so sweetly and wake it when I need it.
Give it a try!
