You cannot preorder using the Apple store app while traveling out of the country.

just checked the faq from the Apple store app. It says while traveling you can only make purchases in the country where the billing address matches your Apple ID. Anyone know of a way around this?

I used Private Internet Access and they worked fine on iOS. I don't use a VPN anymore since I have no use for it, but if I did I would use them again.

So in theory I can turn off location services on the app store, connect to the hotel wifi in Taiwan, launch the VPN then the apple store and I should be able to preorder as if I was in the US? Im using the same US shipping address as the CC billing.

Thanks. They are like 10-15 bucks a month and I only need it once for this trip. Id rather have the simplest and most reliable solution to make it look like I'm in the US when doing the order.

Has anyone ever used this type of solution when using the apple store app to pre order over seas?

What it means is that you can't use your US Apple ID to pre-order from a different countries store (e.g. I couldn't use my UK Apple ID to sign into the US Store and pre-order for purchase from a US Store)

There's nothing stopping you using the apple store app to make a purchase as long as the pick up/purchase country is the same as your Apple ID

I've got a US Apple ID as well as my UK one and i've ordered something using my US ID and signed into the US Apple Store App whilst still in the UK and collected it once I got to the US

Thanks. I just set location to never on the apple store app and it let me launch it and start an order. I guess I can also try the web browser to to apple.com. Hopefully we will hear back from someone who has actually preordered outside of the county. I really don't see the big deal as long as I'm shipping to the US address on the CC. Not like I'm trying to ship it to china etc.

I think that means if your Apple ID has a US address, you can only buy stuff from the US Apple online store. It doesn't matter where you made the purchase. I pre-ordered my phone when I was in China last year without VPN, and I got my phone on first day.

If I open the apple store app in Taiwan will it show the Taiwan store how do I change it in the app to USA?

It should still be the US one. You can go to Account and Settings, at the bottom should be the country.
