After doing system updates when I try to view the logfiles I see all of these greyed out so I can't view them:

ipfw.log
mb.log
secure.log
windowserver.log

Can anyone tell me what is going on here?
I repaired the disk permissions and rebooted but still can't view those logs.
I'm using tiger 10.4.11

I was able to view ipfw.log before I installed system updates today. I don't recall seeing any of those greyed out earlier though.

Thanks

The logfiles you mention are (and generally should be) protected, and admin access is needed to view them.

I suppose you're using Console.app? It's a real pain that the GUI log viewer don't support verification for admin rights.

I suggest you use the terminal to read them, or possibly chmod :group the logfiles in order to gain access.
