...when A cellular provider (Vodacom) in South Africa (a 3rd world country), puts a full colour page advertisement in a South African PC magazine about:

This is amazing when you think that even 2 years ago, many poeple here hadn't even heard of Macs.

Yes Apple's market share in South Africa is growing rapidly! Look at the number of stores selling Apple computers (not Apple Stores) springing up everywhere. But then the problem is we don't have all the "features" that our first world relatives have such as Apple Care, Genius Bars, Custom configured Macs, iPod engraving and a little issue when I wanted to take back my shuffle to get it replaced (10% restoking) we have none of that :(

True, although instead of the Genius Bar, we have the "iKnow bar":D Also, because it's not Apple Inc. that sells macs in SA, the prices are crazy, i.e., we pay R1000 ($140) more for a 30GB iPod here than what it would cost in the States. It will get better over time though:)
