This has happened twice now. I sell something online that I know was perfect either cosmetically or functionally, or both.

The buyer gets it and complains a that has issues upon arrival or complains after having it a few days that it doesn't work.

First instance was a firearm I knew was pristine when I sent it out..never used, basically bought it, looked at it a few times over the years than sold it. Buyer gets it and there are two deep scratches in it I knew weren't there when I sent it.

Second instance was an instrument amplifier that I knew had no issues when I sent it out, yet 4-5 days after getting it the buyer complains it has issues and isn't working out full power. I knew this wasn't the case when I sent it as I tested it pretty thoroughly before sending it, and it was also almost new. I bought it new, used it a half dozen times than switched to something else.

With the first one I lost money as a moderator of the forum it was sold through got involved and sided with the buyer.

The second one I was adamant towards the buyer that it had no issues and that if he truly felt there was a problem it was still under warranty and he can send it in to get looked at.

When I sell online I consider all sales final since I disclose any known issues and as far as I am concerned the buyer is fully informed as to what issues (if any) the item has, yet twice now I've had problems with selling expensive items and the buyers complaining.

How do some of you handle this?

Not much you can do other than avoid selling online
Exactly. This is one reason I will never sell to another person. BS to take anyone's side because nothing is proof. Even if seller took pics, they could have taken them right when they got it and damaged it later. Same for buyer. Pic means nothing either because you could have taken it after damaging it

The first one -- couldn't they just return it and get your money back -- minus shipping I guess. There wasn't an option from the moderator? I'm very sorry to hear that

Trade-ins or resellers can be just as bad. Part of life I guess.

As a buyer, I am not pleased when I buy something that is advertised as fully functional or cosmetically pristine and then when I get it, it either doesn't work right or has imperfections. And then the seller swears it was perfect when shipped. See how that works.

Buying and selling used tech online is always a risk. If the reward is worth it, fine. We all make our choices.

Sometimes a buyer gets buyer's remorse and claims "imperfections." Or, for anyone who's been on this forum, OCD is a real thing for some.
