I recently noticed you can up (like) your own post... This leads to artificial inflation.

Just thought I'd point it out.

You can do only once per post, no big harm can be done; be your guest. Just ignore the number. It's a relict from times where unneeded down voting could be compensated. Just ignore.

Did you up-voted yourself :D

The real problem is that once you've up-voted a post, unless you remember which thread it was in, there's no way to undo it. We need a way to be able to see all posts on which a user has up-voted. :p

Nobody cares about the voting of posts anyways, so it's a moot point.

Maybe you and I don't, but there are some frequent posters here who are quite wound up over it.

I agree with OP, it does seem odd to allow upvoting yourself.

Honestly, the whole thing should be dumped. It is currently being used to show some "popular" comments below the front page articles, but the result of most of those seems to be smart alek or rude comments floating to the top.

Edit: For the record, I did not upvote myself in this post. :D

I up voted you post because I thought it was correct.

Now i've up voted MY post because I think i'm right !

;)

I down voted your post because I think you are wrong.
Alas I have to keep the running total in ram. It is terribly mentally taxing.

haha i did up-vote myself... just to prove a point.

When i'm reading through a thread with 100+ replies, i skip over the ones with 0 up votes because I find them irrelevant. Now that may just be me, but I feel it does artificially inflate a comment. I understand the history of posts and being able to counter down votes, however, we've already removed down voting.

My two cents. or 100,000,000,000,000+ cents :apple:

edit: I left this post untouched with my own up-voting

Thank goodness you're here to point out all of the fallacies of the site!
Few, if any, should care about the voting.
