You tube quality different on different phone- HUH?!

So I was at the ATT store.
I had my iphone 3g and was there to get my wife one (she saw mine and had mad envy).
Well I was waiting in line and decided to check my 2 week old phone agains the in store phone.

The youtube video on the in store phone was awesome, mine was terrible!
Both were on 3g, I looked to make sure the instore one had the wifi cut off and it was much better quality.

What gives?

Also, my phone has the yellow screen and my wife's has the blue screen and the one at the store was blue too.
Go figure.

Youtube on 3G is just as bad as EDGE I wish we could get WiFi quality out video out of 3G.

I have the latest updates, and the thing is BOTH phones were on 3g, one was an in store one was was mine.

I've noticed that on my computer youtube videos (the same ones) are always better quality than those accessed through the iphone's youtube app

I've found it has to do with the quality of the video more. Some videos look better on my iPhone than computer honestly. I know that's strange.

the computer's are better because there meant for that resolution on the screen, videos are shrinked down a bit for the iphones resolution so it isn't as good of video quality.

i do wish video quality on 3G was better, but most of the time when im watching video from it i have wifi.

Was it the exact same video on both devices. I noticed that some of my ytube videos are clearer that others over 3g.

YEs it was the exact same video.
I tried it on two videos actually, and both were very different.

from what i understand youtube had a deal with apple to convert all the videos so they are iphone easy - so they stream quicker at the result of lower quality.

this is why all youtube videos are of lower quailty on the iphone

Good point. And because they're in H264 on the iPhone you get a lot less pixelation if the video is of decent quality.
