Alright, I've taken the big first step (downloading the behemoth SDK, clocking in at close to 2GB) in developing an iPhone app. Next step: I need an idea for an app to develop.

I'm lost for ideas - do you have any? I'm not looking to profit from your ideas - anything I develop would be free, of course. I just want to learn how to do it.

Leopard! Lol..I want the entire iLife suite and photobooth and firefox and iChat and the iWork suite :) maybe even photoshop!
 
I'd love to see an app that sends certain callers or groups straight to voicemail. It would perfect for when I want to receive calls from my friends and family, but not from work.

I had something like this on my treo a couple of years ago. It also had the ability to prevent whole groups of people from getting through OR leaving voicemail.
 
A nicely designed MSN IM app, preferably free (I know the developer puts a lot of work into it), no ads, nice icon, similar to Apple's Messages app? That would be really good and useful for me... Palringo is sort of crappy and so is IM+...

Plenty of ideas out there, the tough part is carrying them out.
 
i want an app that will order me beer and pizza whenever i run out. and when its not busy doing that it will tell me how good looking and studly i am.

Give me your credit info, and I'll code you an app that orders the pizza and send your messages on how good looking you are.

In fact, that offer is available for everyone else as well.
 
A really good and ( simple ) pong game. Really good graphics and really fluid.

2 player support ofcourse.


And as for the person which said Adium, I believe they are already developing it for the iPhone. I could be wrong but check out their blog posts or their website I think I read it somewhere. I would expect that they are readying it for 3.0 .

I would like to have an app that automatically smites the person standing in front of me in line letting farts rip. Easy enough to add I believe. Just a little shock-shooter or something? Mini-Taser? Come on Apple.
 
An app from UPS so I can bypass their site to check the status of my packages. Could even integrate it with Google Maps to show the packages last known location.
 
I would love an app that gives me ideas for apps. That or allows a pitching of a sound.
