I'm always looking for new books to read to try to expand my expertise, so I figured I'd see what other people would suggest/recommend.
Not too long after I was really diving into CSS, I picked up Pro CSS Techniques. It had a lot of good information for beginners, but also many tips for more advanced users as well. I find myself using it as an index for quite a few things.
Wicked Cool PHP is a great tool for people looking for some real-world PHP examples. A lot of books teach you something and give a short glimpse of an example, but this book actually bases its lessons on those examples and explains them all in-depth.
I'm currently working on a big database project at work and have been reading High Performance MySQL. So far, it's been a great tool for making sure all my tables are set up to perform as efficiently as possible and optimizing all my queries. I especially like that details all the major and minor differences between database engines (most notably MyISAM and InnoDB).
I'm looking for a really good Javascript and AJAX reference if anybody has any suggestions, but otherwise post your other web dev recommendations for anything else you've read!
