So I just upgraded my MBP to a Crucial M4 256GB SSD, and sometimes when I shut down I get a restart, followed by the gray screen saying my computer was restarted from a problem. It's not the black screen which I assume is worse, but what are some steps I can do to troubleshoot it and figure this out? I hope its a simple software problem and not a hardware one!

It's called a Kernel Panic. In my experience, it's most likely caused by RAM and hard drive issues, so the SSD might be the culprit. I'd open it up again, check to see if the ram is seated correctly, and go from there.
If that doesn't work, have you done a clean install of the OS, or is it a clone from the computer's old hard drive?
