These issues are definetly hardware related, but its still a good test to see if the screen is bad. Im going to show this the genius when I take mine in to prove the problem. Thanks.

If you don't see anything funny with the darker squares, meaning the shades are well separated and the darkest sqare is well saturated, then your screen should be good. I put it on the web because I am interested in going to the Apple store tomorrow and find out for myself.

what do you mean by funny? i know my touch lcd isnt as high quality as say my monitor. hard to know what to look for. these forums have me casting a very critical eye on my touch lol

I think I'm gonna make another one with more gradients and go to the Apple store with a video camera...
