Just curious how many battery cycles your new Macbook shows and the amount of its charge when you got it, either before or after your initial battery calibration.

Here's mine based on the "About This Mac" panel, after calibration; Coconut Battery seems to need an update to accurately measure the new Macs:

Battery Cycle Count: 9
Charge Remaining: 4255 mAh
Full Charge Capacity: 4274 mAh

It came out of the box with 8 battery cycles, not sure why.

odd? There shouldn't be any cycles on it right out of the box.

MacBook came home yesterday charged to just under 90%. I charged it up and have been letting it drain since then. Coconut says:

Cycles: 1
Age: 3 weeks (aw)
Current capacity/max battery charge: 4224mAh
Original capacity: 4100mAh

Not sure if that's what you were asking? Obviously I haven't calibrated yet.

It is strange. But this was definitely new (no double seal) and the Macbook is absolutely mint with no defects whatsoever. Coconut Battery only shows 4 charging cycles, but puts the age of my Macbook at 122 months!

Yeah, I thought Cococonutbattery might need an update because mine shows:

Current battery capacity: 4180 mAh
Battery-loadcycles: 7
Age of your mac: 122 months

I think it was 4 loadcycles out of the box.

But why 122 months?? That's 10 years old??

It measured my previous macbook accurately (late 2007 version).

I deleted Coconut Battery and all its files and just reinstalled it. I guess just migrating from my old Mac made it strange. It says the my Mac is 3 weeks old and I have 9 Battery Loadcycles.

Still not sure why my new Macbook came out of the box with so many battery cycles.

maybe apple is cycling/testing the batteries before sending them out. making sure theres not defects. kind of like quality testing.
