very nice, ill probably be using it until facebook gets it act together!

It would be very nice though, if you could simply provide a bookmarklet, for example where all the code for a page is confined within the URL

a good example of this is the SciCalc at http://scicalc.belfry.com/
you see where you can load the bookmarlet...

this condenses the whole page into the URL. That means no server interaction

This would be helpful if say for some reason your server went down, or you are on a slower connection and have to hit 2 servers just to load the page,

thanks,

this is great....i just tried it and it worked beautifully. some of my icons looked really weird. this makes the homescreen look a lot less messy.

can some one explain the process?

first you goto the site on a desktop browser.
you enter the name of the site, the URL, and upload an icon.
you are given a code,
you visit the site on you iPhone or touch, and enter the code you are given there.

You then bookmark that page, and add it to your home screen. it will then create the icon and redirect you to the site you entered!

webclip.us is nice though because you can put in a label while the other site when you add it it just defaults to "Safari" and you have to type in what you want.

I would like to see a gallery of recently uploaded ones that I can use.

I agree! I'm surprised we haven't seen that yet on a flickr page or something. I wonder if there would be copywrite issues or something that would keep that from happening. I would hope not since we'd only be using the logo to go to that icon's site anyway.

There are a lot out there now, if I knew how I'd upload them but I'm still trying to find a program to make the correct size icon for Drudge Report and others. I don't have a program to edit like that.
