YouTube/Airplay cuts off when locked

Hey guys,

Streamed a youtube clip to my Apple TV and whenever my phone locked the stream would stop. It never used to do this, as I used to be able to stream and even when I exit the YouTube app from my phone the stream stops….

Is there a work around for this other than to keep my screen unlocked all the time wasting battery?

It works fine for me both screen locking and exiting the app. Do you have the latest software across all devices?

Yes iPhone is running latest iOS 8 and I have an Apple TV 2 which is running the latest software also...

Never used to cut out when my iPhone went into the lock screen or even when I used to exit the YouTube app itself, it used to keep playing but now just cuts out

You need to go into settings then YouTube, turn on background app refresh and restart the you tube app and it should work fine. I just had this issue and it sorted it straight out
