Youtube app can't airplay??

I just upgraded to iOS6 and found that the youtube app cannot do airplay? what?? now I have to use mirroring just to watch youtube on my apple tv? why??

Using iOS 5 on my iPhone 4, and the new YouTube app only stream the audio to my Apple TV (3rd gen), no video.
The original YouTube app still works as usual.

Yeah...I just noticed this tonight. Audio is via YT app; video is via screen mirroring. It's an annoyance, and it's kind of buggy.
