YouTube App not working

is anyone else experiencing issues the the YouTube App on Apple TV just over the last couple days? I click to watch a video and I get a black screen, sometimes it jumps to the very end of the video instantly before I even watch any of it. Once in a while it actually starts a video at a random time in the video. Very rarely does is start playing a video at all, especially from the beginning. It’s basically unusable and as far as I can tell there’s no support from Google/YouTube to be had

Google obviously did a very sloppy job updating Youtube to tvOS 18. The queue does not work smoothly either.

It will undoubtedly fix the bugs in the next couple days.

Since tvOS 18, I have an intermittent problem with the remote trackpad not working specifically using the YT app. Have to reboot the app.

It seems to encounter a corruption when installing. I deleted the Apple TV YouTube app and reinstalled it. I then added a few videos to the queue and it seemed to operate a little bit better for two or three videos. Then would simply halt with a blank screen until I manually tapped another video in the queue.

I hope YouTube fixes it soon. The current version for Apple TV is 4.41.30 dated 8Sep24.

The app on Apple TV is updated remotely for the most part since it is a web wrapper. Very rarely does Google issue a full app update. This issue was caused by a remote update that will likely not require an app update.

Already tried to reinstall the app, it worked for the first few videos, then black screen again

Same for me. We're stuck waiting for Google to fix it.

Very frustrating. When I go try to grab it from history, it shows I’ve watched the entire video and I didn’t see a moment of it.

The YT app for tvOS 18 is truly messed up. After I finish a video from a channel, instead of taking me back to the channel, it takes me back to the top of my subscription list. Then I have to scroll all the way down to get back to the channel I was watching. PIA.

I have stopped trying to use YouTube with the TVOS 18 app. It works fine on my iPad with iPadOS 18. Obviously different code base as the TV app while it used to work has always been miserable. The viewer window does not scroll right with the physical Apple Remote. Have to use the remote app on my phone for proper scrolling.
