Has anyone found a fix or workaround for the new YT interface on Apple TV? It used to show multiple rows of different categories on the home screen, made browsing much easier. Now it has a massive ad-block, then a single row of recommendations and then a massive refresh button.

I get they want you to login but the Apple TV is used by the whole family and no way do I want my kids love of videos of people playing video games gunking up my years long curation of bbq, hockey, and music videos, so I refuse to login to the app.

noticed those too, you can create multiple users, but i also dont like to login.

you could always airplay each video you wanna watch but that becomes cumbersome.

Can they fix the weird sorting of my subscribed channels. It used to be alphabetical and now it’s completely random. Stupid decision probably by some agile team with nothing of value to do. Their telemetry should have seen my usage drop dramatically after that change.

less than a month ago it wasnt this way.
Maybe not, but I'm going to say YT was already a hot mess when you don't log in. I have the chrome browser installed on my computer for those times when something doesn't work in firefox. I mistakenly go to YT on chrome, and I'm like ewwww.

Just login and problem solved.

If the YT app on apple tv is anything like the website, you can easily switch users. My kids use my computers and switching back to my account is easy as pie

I'm wondering how such curation can be reliable if you're not logging in.
it would still maintain suggestions and search history to the 'non-logged' user.

in fact it still does, but now it only presents a single row of uncategorized recommendations.

@BrianBaughn your read is correct, google benefits more if you are linked to an account.

Agreed that was extremely annoying. It seems to be algorithm driven now, which completely messes with me interacting with my subscribed channels.

Since (as far as I know) you must log in to use YT Premium and ditch the ads, I've never run into this... YT looks the same as it always has to me.
oddly thats whats kept me from paying for premium. i dont need to make it easier for google to correlate one of my email accounts to my youtube viewing history.

Just subscribe to India, it’s like 4 € a month for the family plan so I ended paying 0,66 € per month. 🤣🤣🤣

Urgh the YT client experience does my head in. I mostly just use yt-dlp stuff in batches now and airplay it from my ipad. No ads, no crappy client experience.
