I've got an issue with using Chrome on my 2016 MBP 13". Browsing on Chrome is fine except when I start watching a YouTube video. I often see CPU temps (shown using Mac's Fan Control) of around 80°C and the battery drains quickly.

In comparison, immediately after I watched a YouTube video in Chrome, I closed Chrome and opened Safari and watched the same video at the same 1080p quality. The temps dropped from 80 to around 45°C.

Easy solution is to ditch Chrome, but unfortunately I've just bought an android phone so I now use Chrome so I can sync between devices. Wondering if anyone knows of a fix, perhaps a Chrome setting that I need to change?

Thanks .

I think you have two choices: ditch Chrome (as you said) or accept the higher temperatures (and the surveillance). The machine will shut down if temperatures get too high so you shouldn’t worry about damaging the computer.
