Youtube lagging on 2011 base iMac

Hey guys.

So when I try to watch a 1080p video on youtube it lags quite a bit. I use safari, and my system is a 2011 base iMac with 16 gb ram. When I watch a 1080p video any other place than youtube it runs very smooth. Is this a problem with flash or what? And what can I do to minimize the lag?

Safari 5.1.2 still have bugs. Sometime consumed much memory when playing flash and then unexpectedly quit. You can use plugins to prevent lagging when playing youtube like ClickToPlugin 2.5.6 from hoyois, it support HTML5 too!

it works for me, now I can play full HD youtube Video full screen mode without lag.

I use it(ClickToFlash) as well and as said in previous post the HTLM5 conversion works mighty fine, try around with the settings and have a ball

You could always try Chrome or Firefox. I rarely use Safari.

I can play 1080p content flawlessly on my venerable late-2008 MacBook Aluminium.
