Any idea why this doesn’t work? Playing music and can’t skip songs from lockscreen. I have to either click AirPod or unlock phone, change from Notification Center or open app to change.

I don't have youtube Music, so don't know if it matters. But you can change notification setting to allow example when locked.

I have YouTube Premium and YouTube Music. Both show up on my lock screen and on my Apple Watch, and I can skip songs and such from both the phone’s lock screen and from the watch. So, it’s probably some setting that you’ve turned off.

You've gotta pay Google $12 every month if you want YouTube to work on the lock screen. It's called YouTube Premium. With it you'll get ad free YouTube video too. Very expensive.

Depends where you’re located. Here in Mexico it’s only 99 pesos a month, which is less than half of the US price. Definitely worth it for me.

Now that’s some serious BS.

IKR... YouTube started crippling their mobile app several years ago. I had an Android phone at the time. It annoyed me to no end that YouTube wouldn’t even play in the background without paying for a Red/Premium subscription. I eventually caved in and subscribed because I use YouTube a lot, because a dedicated music streaming app was included, and because the price wasn’t bad (well, at least not here...).
