YouTube not present on in-store Apple TV?

So I was at an Apple Store in Toronto and I notice that they don't have the system updated with YouTube. I asked them why, considering the update happened last month.

They said they have to follow strict update rules from Apple and they have been told not to update the thing.

I am wondering if this is the case at all Apple Stores. Can anyone confirm whether the Apple Store in your neck of the woods features the latest update for TV (with YouTube)

I am thinking that either this particular store is lazy or that the powers that be at Apple don't want to demonstrate the YouTube feature because people will notice the poor video quality and think that it's representative of the TV video quality.

The store is not lazy. It's a matter of mature and copyrighted content that is on YouTube.

Also, the stores I'm at including an Authorized Reseller has the official TV company self running demo on it instead. The system itself may be updated but the software on it is for demonstration kiosks... no YouTube.

The Apple Store (not an authorized retailer but an actual Apple Store) I am referring to also has the demo in the window. The two machines that you can play with in-store also feature the running demo, but they have remotes next to them inviting you to play with it and check out the system.

The mature content stuff doesn't make sense to me. Can you not visit the same sites on the in-store computers? I would imagine you could even surf for porn if you wanted to.

All the TV content is demo content - samples of programming in addition to the self running demo.

As far as porn in the stores, I believe they have a filter running.

the Apple stores in Clarendon, Virginia, and Pentagon City, Virginia, have the 1.1 update on the ATV.

the Apple store in Bethesda Row, Maryland, did not when I was there right after the iPhone launch.

Mind you I didnt try *every* ATV, I just was playing around with one of them.

Here in london the stores dont have Youtube.

The Nottingham store, might actually have been Sheffield, to be honest i was not sure where i was had the update.

People who wander into the store may end up updated them if they flick through to the menu.

The BestBuy in Wilmington, DE (I think it was that one) had an AppleTV connected to an HDTV in the Magnolia section.

It had YouTube on it, but it asked for some sort of account/password.

The ones in the Apple store in Bluewater, Kent, UK dont have YouTube (checked earlier this month)
