Hello,
For some time when I maximize youtube it only shows half screen. Can anyone know how to fix this? It's really annoying.

Just click on the running video and it should switch to full screen.
It does but it still is annoying and not a problem solver but a temp fix. It does it again on any HD video on youtube if I try to make it full screen. It seams that if the movie is not HD it maximize it ok.

I had a similar problem with youtube and an external display. Seems to be Flash related in my case. Try to disable Flash (unblock allow plugins in Safari settings) and see if it helps.

I've seen this recently. The issue is that it doesn't automatically switch from one stream resolution to the other. On the machine I saw it on, Flash wasn't even installed.

My guess is that YouTube made a programming change of some sort that isn't playing well with certain versions of Safari and/or OS X. Maybe it'll be patched, either by YouTube or Apple. Or maybe you need to update OS X. Or maybe YouTube has addressed the issue on their support site. Meantime, clicking Play/Pause or clicking on the video resolves the issue. Annoying? Yes, but it's a pretty easy workaround. Sure beats having no workaround at all.

I saw this last weekend on a friend's PC running Windows. I clicked the maximise icon in the lower right corner of the video, the video appeared to change resolution but the space it occupied did not change, in other words it was more like a zoom function. It was not constant either, in that it happened sometimes with some browser tabs whilst other youtube videos in other browser tabs maximised normally. Internet Explorer was being used, by the way. So, my opinion is that it is an anomaly in Youtube's use of HTML5 code, now that they are moving away from Flash and as noted above, it has been seen on a m/c w/o Flash installed.
