After seeing various macs of the 00s down at my local junkyard. I decided to create some super basic videos around ultra low budget and low spec gaming. There's a reason to hold onto older hardware and keep it out of landfill. As many know already I've whipped up a few ppc/intel games in unity. I'm working on a new one currently.

I've currently got 2 macs a g4 powerbook 1.33 15" and a mid 2009 macbook 2.13 geforce 9400m. The g4 is probably one of the best things I ever purchased and for basically $10 plus a $20 power supply I can't complain at all. The amount of gaming I've done on it and I even keep some basic financial records on it.

Over the next few weeks I'll make some basic videos both intel and PPC highlighting the amount of fun you can get from one of these machines. Just basic videos. Probably 2 minutes long per video. Some native mac games and some emulation!!

Now QuickTime screen record and snapz pro were absolute *****. Laggy and terrible frame rates. I'll probably just use my phone to record and take a few screenshots aswell. I hope at least a couple of people find it somewhat interesting. Hopefully I'll inspire a few people to get into vintage gaming.

The PowerBook G4 has an S-Video and Composite Video output. You could hook that up to a FireWire/USB video capture device and record stuff that way. Or use a HDMI capture box hooked up to the PowerBook's DVI output for the highest quality.

Yeah sounds like abit of messing around I don't get why the QuickTime screen record is so leggy even at 640x480

About 52% . That's with it running at 800x600 so I can see the activity monitor. CPU at 56 degrees celsius
