I notice when I open up a youtube video in safari 90% of the time it flickers on then black for a split second before playing the video. On the contrary, when I open the same video in chrome is doesn't happen.

It happens both with adblocking software on and off. Is this related to any of the GPU issues or is it something different? Initially I wondered if it were do to auto-detect quality setting but chrome never has the issue.

Can anyone enlighten me on what it is/ and if I should be concerned with any graphic/display issues?

Well, if Safari is doing it and Chrome is not, then maybe it's just Safari. Safari does that to me on occasion. Have you tried a third and fourth browser to see if it still does it in them?
