When I play any YouTube video on Apple TV using the YouTube app, the first five seconds of audio is skipped. The video portion plays just fine. When the audio finally starts, it's perfectly in sync. This doesn't happen on any other device (e.g., iPhone, Xbox, Mac) or any other app I have on Apple TV. It's not a huge issue. Just annoying since I can't figure out a solution. Anyone else experience this?

Are you using content frame rate matching? The recent Youtube update does content matching now.

Thanks. You seem to be onto something. I just tried turning off frame rate matching. Some videos still skip the beginning audio but others seem to be fine.

I seem to have entirely fixed this issue. I had the video format set to 4K SDR 59.94 Hz, which is near the top of the settings. Way further down in the menu is the setting for 4K SDR 60 Hz. When I set this as the output, the problem went away. (I still have frame rate matching turned off.)

Thanks. I was having the same problem with my Apple TV (2021). My Apple TV was set the 4KHDR 60 (59.94Hz). My solution was to select “Reset Video Settings” on the Apple TV. After doing that, my YouTube videos play from the start without any issues. Interestingly, enough, my Apple TV still defaults to 4K HDR 60 (59.94 Hz). My Apple TV is connected to a Samsung S95B (QD-OLED) which is connected to an ONKYO TX-NR7100 A/V Receiver.

it’s probably your hdmi cable going out, they don’t last forever and good key indicator is slow and frequent problems in regards to DRM on video files, for example on youtube, every single ad that comes on will try to switch my video input and rate, try a different cable and see if that works for you.

Is “frame rate matching” enabled on your Apple TV?

It sounds like you are running HDR all the time with no matching on at all. It would be better if you set it to SDR and turn on content range matching at least.

I’m no longer having the issue since I reset video settings on my Apple TV. The Format: 4K HDR 60 (59.94Hz) is what the Apple TV defaults to with my Samsung S95B. Match content is set to OFF. Are you saying I should change those?

Unless you are watching more HDR content than SDR, it doesn't make sense to default to HDR. Plus, you should turn match content range on. Otherwise, content isn't going to be displayed properly (either SDR or HDR depending on what your default is). If you set your Apple TV to SDR with content range matching on, it will not switch for most Youtube content (since most is SDR).

Good news, I guess. YouTube is out with an update on Apple TV. It says “ disabled frame matching”. They should not have removed the option. Only made it better IMO

Hi All,
I am using ROKU appliances. I recently set my SAMSUNG" tv to use 1980HD/60P, and began the no audio at the beginning of commercials, and the beginning of videos only on Youtube. I swapped ROKU units and same problem. After thinking about it, I remembered switching ROKU from 720p to 1080P. AS soon as I went back to 720, it worked again.
Hope this helps.
