What is the general consensus here? When I have both on, and load Youtube TVapp, there is a black screen / spinning circle and then the app loads. Kind of annoying. Does not happen when both are off
HDR/Dolby Vision to be a gimmick and very little support from anything you would stream. If the tv doesn't look good in SDR then no point in buying it and other ranges just feel like over contrast/saturation.
You shouldn't have to do that at all with Youtube or Youtube TV. Are you not running in SDR mode by default? Do you have your Chroma set to 4:4:4?This is an issue both for YouTube and YouTube TV for myself as well. I keep “Match Dynamic Range” turned off to keep my TV from switching in and out of something…. My TV will normally pause with Apple and indicate if it’s receiving an HDR or DolbyVision signal. With YouTube I just get the pauses…. Even when just changing a channel.
When I want DolbyVision for Netflix or my library, I turn the match dynamic range back on.
Honestly, no other app behaves that way on my ATV.

Chroma 4:4:4 is typically geared towards PC/computers and games. The default 4:2:0 is fine for movies. You shouldn't have to do that at all with Youtube or Youtube TV. Are you not running in SDR mode by default? Do you have your Chroma set to 4:4:4?
Yes, but with Youtube (at least in the past), if you enabled dynamic range switching, if chroma wasn't set to 4:4:4, it resulted in a black screen while switching on some TVs even when it wasn't necessary. I'm not sure if that is still the case as I just leave it to 4:4:4 all the time.Chroma 4:4:4 is typically geared towards PC/computers and games. The default 4:2:0 is fine for movies.
