YouTube videos in maximized browser window

Once upon a time (before OS X 10.10.?) it was possible to have Youtube to play videos in a maximized window when clicking onto the most right icon in the lower right corner of the Youtube player. Now this seems to be not possible anymore and Safari and Firefox switch to full screen mode instead.

Is there a possibility to get the option "Maximized Window" for Youtube videos in a browser back?

Firefox behaves for me the way it always has. Safari has a slightly odd full screen style animation but the end result is still a properly full screen video.

Can you post screenshots of what's happening when you try to click the full screen button in YouTube? Or is there something about the above behaviour that you're trying to change?
