I've just ordered the Macbook. I dearly love my iPad2, but can't see carrying both around. Though I will miss the built-in cellular connection. I hope tethering works okay for occasional use.

Seriously, if the Macbook works out I'll probably gift the iPad2 to one of my kids, and get a Kindle for reading.

So what are you going to do with your iPad when the MacBook shows up?

De-register messages/facebook etc and leave it on the living room table for everyone to use it !

Everyone is different, but I don't find much overlap between my two iPads and my rMBP, and I don't think a smaller, lighter version would change that. My laptop is for work, content authoring and editing. My iPads are frankly mostly either for content consumption (watch a video, read a web site) or keeping up with email without having the size and risk of a fold-open device.

My iPad has always been a glorified Kindle, just with better PDF capabilities. The iPad and Macbook have completely different uses for me.
