I was just wondering if anyone had the Logitech Z-5500 hooked up to their MacBook. I used a Toslink to Mini Toslink cable to hook it up and was wondering if there was a setting to use all 5 speakers. The only options I can see are to use 3 or 4 of the speakers, but not all 5 simultaneously. Any ideas?

What are you using to play your videos/what kind of videos are they?

I know the MB supports 5.1 via the DVD Player app. Try going to preferences and try the different audio options via the dropdown menu in the Disc Setup menu.

i think it would have to depend on the source of your audio.
if youre playing a dvd that has 5.1 audio then you should be getting audio from all speakers.

i doubt the audio from system sounds or hulu have 5.1 audio.

most decent spec 5.1 speaker systems have an option for 2x2 or double stereo where it will just play the same thing through all the speakers. but this will not be true 5.1 surround
