hello.

A few of you may already recognize who i am ("is my battery defective?" thread) for those of you who don't, i am new to the world of laptops as well as the world of Mac. Thus far, i am enjoying my excursion immensely. With the purchase of my iBook G4, I was offered a free subscription to MacWorld. I accepted the subscription in electronic form so that i would be using Zinio Reader in order to read MacWorld. Unfortunately i have been unble to download the magazine. I read on the Zinio website that some users who have recently installed the new Virex program are the ones having problems. I have recently downloaded Virex 7.5. The Zinio website said that in order to get around this problem one would have to add the Zinio Delivery Manager to the Exclusion list on Virex.

Unfortunately, i am not familair with unix at all (i think i may have even made a wrong reference here), so i do not know how to add Zinio Delivery Manager to my excursions list. If anyone can teach me how or direct me to a website, it would be greatly appreciated.

thank you again,

Claudia

P.S

i know how to access the Exclusions list i just do not know how to modify it.

I am also having problems. I'll check the multiple email problem and then virex will be my next target...not sure about the exclusion list...

My opinion is of little help to you, but I have major problems with an application that looks like a virus to your virus-protection software. Zinio is a media reader, for God's sake. There is no reason for any application to trip virus protection, let alone a media reader. With Zinio as an exception in your virus protection software, there might be a way for a virus writer to mimic Zinio's profile. There are other issues that must be overcome for a Mac virus to propagate. However, sloppy developers should not be in the business of putting chinks in the Mac's superb armor.
