I don't know why I have so many issues with this computer every couple of weeks. Now out of nowhere I can't download zip files, anytime I click a zip link it just opens to a blank page instead of automatically downloading. I've had to have people email me zips and it's getting annoying and confusing.

I use Chrome, Safari and FF... same issue on all 3 browsers, and the zip links work as I've had other check them. I do this for business and marketing so always downloading zip files.

And also, the other week I had this issue and still do, the email zip download I had a member send me was fine, but trying all those sites still gives nothing but a blank page when clicking to download: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1094428/

think I'm gonna have to go back to a pc for work and leave this laptop for only watching movies when traveling :( . Never had any of these issues on my pc's that constantly pop up on this mac that have me stumped.

Gone through settings but not sure what could be causing this, especially in every browser. I can download a zip link emailed to me no problem, but if it's an online site where I have to click the zip link.... it does nothing and goes to a blank page.

Seriously weird... searched online and found some similar issues from Mac users, but with no real answer to what would cause this.

What OS are you using and what version of Safari?

Do you have a program on your computer called speed download? It's a plug in that I think causes this problem. Try to spotlight search for it. I did a google and people with the same problem were getting it because of that plug in. Could fix your problem if that's the case.

Using os/x 10.5.8, and Safari 5.0.3

Yeh I searched and have that plugin, but kinda confused on it... says it's needed for downloading/download manager, but saw other comments including on here about it causing issues, looks like they can't download period. I can download, however if it's like a website that says click the "zip" link to download, it won't (or like in my 1st post the links for SMC do the same thing).

make an appointment with a genius at an apple store. you are not savvy enough to be deleting software.

Disabled Speed Downloader.. didn't work, re-downloaded it... didn't work. Had appointment with GB and they don't know whats up either, want me to do a restore.. wtf I just did one the other week. So then I can have the problem again, and keep doing restores  . Hate the apple store though, they are never on time for appointments had to wait over an hour past the appt time, and its like a feeding frenzy in there with people. Last time we went 45 minutes over the appointment for gf's ipod and they wouldn't fix the jack under warrenty that so many people have issues with, ended up replacing it myself for a fraction of what they wanted to charge...which coulda bought a new ipod, nice scam lol.

I'm seeing other people post of the same issue having searched on here and online for zip links opening to blank pages as well as the links to smc fan control which I had to have emailed to me in a zip and that worked fine, and nobody seems to know the fix unless I missed it somewhere?
