This one is kind of a niche application, so not sure how many people are familiar with it? But we use a videoconferencing package called Zoom (www.zoom.us). The regular desktop client is available for Windows and Mac and works pretty much as expected/advertised.

My problems are with an app they designed specifically for the Mac called "Zoom Rooms" (formerly called ZoomPresence). It's a version of Zoom designed to leave running on a Mac that's set up in a conference room. We have a few of these rigs operating in our corporate offices in different parts of the country, and overall, they're really nice.

Basically, they operate using Zoom software on an iPad as the controller, and it's possible to schedule meetings so they show up on a screen on the iPad as they're coming up. (Pretty slick if you wall-mount the iPad and put it in kiosk mode so it always runs the Zoom controller when it starts up.)

Anyway, the problem I keep running into with Zoom Rooms in my office is that I'll come in on a Monday morning and find the system is unresponsive. Basically, the Zoom Rooms screen is up on the display as you'd expect while it's sitting idle, waiting for a meeting to start. But it's impossible to click the "Exit" or "Logout" buttons that appear in the bottom left-hand corner when you roll the mouse down to that area. Sometimes they display "greyed out" and non-clickable. Other times when this happens, I can actually click them but nothing happens. I wind up having to hard reboot the machine to get it going again. I've also noticed that when it's stuck in this state, the iPad associated with it stops properly displaying upcoming meetings. (If there's a new meeting for that day scheduled, it will still display no new meetings until I reboot the machine and it gets logged back in again.)

I know this should probably be dealt with directly with Zoom tech support -- except frankly, I've worked with them before on other issues and the support I get is pretty basic. I wind up doing all of the real troubleshooting myself to solve things and let them know what wound up working! (They have the ability to collect diagnostic logs to look over, and I've submitted those before - but they always say it all looks fine.)

I was just hoping maybe there are a few other Zoom Rooms users out here who could share their experiences with the product? Who knows.... might just be some quirk only happening to me?
