Zoomed/Enlarged logo during Boot up

Hi folks,

My buddy has a problem with his Macbook Pro that started about a month ago and I couldn't figure it out. When he boots up the computer, the apple logo and spinning bars are zoomed in. However, once the log-in screen appears, it's back to normal.

15" 1,680 × 1,050 (glossy)
2.66 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 256 MB/Nvidia GeForce GT 330M 512MB GDDR3 SDRAM
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)


I took a video of it but it doesn't appear as bad on the video.

It appears that the wrong resolution is being set when the computer is first turning on, but I'm not sure how exactly you'd go about resolving the issue (you could reinstall Mac OS X but that's like detonating a nuclear missile on a single ant walking through your kitchen).

Hopefully someone will know how to fix this and I'm sorry that I can't be of more assistance.

Yeah, it's a weird problem since it only effects the boot up. Thanks for the reply.
