we bought a zune for my son. 30 gigs for $99.99(a great deal unless you own an Imac) . we didn't know at the time that he(the zune) wouldn't play well with our mac...

any tips?

we have been using a friends pc to download stuff. is this going to be the easiest and cheapest way?

Do you run XP on any of your Macs? If so, you can use your Zune in Windows on that Mac through BootCamp or Parallels. That's the only solution I know of, but perhaps there are others that will be posted . . .

P.S. Add the letter 'p' to your signature to complete Franklin's quote

It's a shame Microsoft still lives in a world where it doesn't believe in supporting other platforms, but unless you want to use Bootcamp, buying an iPod will be the best solution. And hey, they're nice devices.

Maybe wait to see if anything new is released at MWSF, but I doubt there'll be any new iPod products, other than the iPhone.

well, there is no way round this, osx and linux will only charge the thing, no communications between them. you will need a copy of windows, through bootcamp or VM.

Its really important to read the system requirement before purchase. we all see people here who bought iPod Touch or iPhone then find out they only have OSX 10.3.....

amen. and there was, somewhere, a miscommunication on this subject. we thought we were good to go.

the ebay idea looks better and better. he could surely get the original cost back and then some...i'd think...

i would just trash the zune and get a good MP3 player, LIKE AN IPOD!!!! lol

Crossover mac, will let you run the zune media player program.
just google search it, it costs like 50 bucks but its cheaper than parallels, and/or bootcamp

I actually was looking around the 'net for a solution to this earlier today. Unfortunately I couldn't find one.

The Zune is a great player, especially the new ones. It supports a lot more formats than the iPod and you don't need to buy an add-on to get FM radio. Yeah, it's Microsoft, but aside from Windows, a lot of their products are good (Xbox 360, etc).

Bring on the bashing, but it's true. :p Of course, I still LOVE Apple.

Back on topic now... Until Microsoft starts supporting Mac OS X, you're going to have to install Windows and use the Zune software. There are no OS X apps that can sync to the Zune as far as I know.

I agree the Zune and Creative Lab's Zen players are superior to the iPod. But that doesn't matter it's all about mind share. But we already know that!

It sucks that they don't work for mac(yet) because the new zune looks interesting enough...but I can't risk it because all I have is macs at home.

Maybe you should run bootcamp on your mac just for the zune.

Bless
