the problem upgrading to a 7200rpm is that u would have to do it at an apple store or you will loose your warranty is not like with the old macbook you could do it yourself without loosing the warranty

no QUAD on the 13.3" :(
no 4G/LTE option :(
backlit keyboard :)
resolution on 13.3" :/ don't really care.

You should've known the first two weren't coming. That would be like being disappointed that Blu-Ray wasn't included.

There was no way, and basically everyone knew it.

3G (not even 4G) was questionable for even the Air, and it didn't even happen.

I'm gonna have to bump up to 15" low-end. I REALLY don't want to spend the money but I need a Mac for work as customers of mine are starting to buy them so I need to be able to support them. The screen-res on the 13" is just too low and impractical for what I do.

Really? No QUAD on the 13? :p
4G/LTE still a novelty — what I mean is, the average person doesn't want to add another monthly bill for anywhere-laptop usage yet
backlit keyboard — an absolute "necessity" (not being sarcastic)
if you bought a 13, you can't be that worried about resolution :p

all i wanted was...

a MBP 13" with equal screen res. as MBA, SB and better battery life.
Do you think the lcd will be upgradeable?

If not, there is a nice black Asus ul36 waiting for me in the store.

Well supposedly the higher end is going to have a 2.7 i5 and a 500gb hdd. As for the graphics, they'll be the same intel HD 3000 (sadly) because in order to put in better graphics they would have to take out the ODD and then it wouldn't be in line with their other products. Maybe a hgiher rez screen? I hope so.

The 17" has decent specs, but te 15" is a joke. With that GPU it will perform worse in all games and GPU intensive apps than the old MBP. Also it has two (HD 3000 + 6490M) equally fast GPUs ?! Whats the reason for that?

Well, I'm going to bed. When I wake up, I'll likely be starting a new thread.

"Help! I just nerd-gasmed over my MBP! What should I do???"

P.S. Quad CPU + 6750M + SSD = WIN.
QED.

very true. for a long time i have agreed with your signature. was waiting to catch yout post in this thread.

Not sure what you mean but maybe Apple will put in a slightly more powerful GPU for the next refresh. A 256MB 6490 is pretty weak.

Without fail there is always somebody guaranteed to say card X is weak in every hardware update.

Weak compared to what?

I have an Intel GMA card from my 2007 MB. I couldn't care less how weak the 6490 is, its more powerful than what I have now. I think you'll find only Gcard geeks care. Everybody else will see these cards as improvements over yesterdays models.

To be honest, if these specs are true, then that means that the 13" pro line is totally f*cked up. I cannot deal with 15" and 17" laptops. I guess, I'll keep rolling my 2008 late unibody macbook. :(

5400 hdd? what happened to 7200rpm?

Not everyone wants to hear the extra noise. Get it from aftermarket for 50 bucks if you really want one.

What noise? I had a 2006 MBP with BTO 100GB 7200RPM. Couldnt even hear the thing.

what ****ed up person would build a 5200 rpm disk in such a piece of hardware... oh yes apple that is :apple:

5400 RPM drives are just as capable at playing back HD video and viewing photos as any 7200 RPM drive is. If you are one of those who needs that extra bit of power; you are already planning to max out the RAM on a BTO system so just add to 7200RPM option.
