dell released their newest ultrasharp model, looks like this may be a cheap alternative and an enough good monitor for mac, 2000:1 contrast, not as good as apple display, but its not expensive

Unexpected, and they seem to deliver it within 3 working days, wish there were more info online about it, but I am super curious about the IPS Black, it may be a great display!

Looks really good, just what I'm after! They also released a 30" 16:10 of the same model.

EDIT: The 30" does not offer 4K.

Is the U2720Q so good for Mac ? Most people here say it is very good but I guess the text cannot be as sharp as a monitor having 180+ ppi. This is real question as I am thinking of selling my 24 inch 4k monitor and buy this new ultrasharp :)

Resolution too low IMO. The 27" is only 1440p and ~ 106ppi, nowhere close to retina.

The 32 (31.5") is a little better at ~ 140ppi.

Neither close to 180ppi+ of LG 4k/5k models.

For $700, between the low ppi and low brightness these monitors don't make sense at all to me. I'd personally give up 3 inches and get the 24" LG Ultrafine 4k for $700 (maybe $600 on sale)

because the scene looks like the Himalayan peak.

Looks pretty nice. Being 4K, each having 400cd/m2 brightness, and being able to deliver 90W PD through USB-C with a decent hub on monitor means it can effectively act similar to the LG UltraFines w/ Thunderbolt 3 to be a 1-cable solution directly from MBP to monitor.

It says 350 cd/m2 on their website, which isn't anything to write home about. The LG ultra fines had 500 cd/m2 brightness, which is noticeable.

Edit: I swear I went to the Dell website and saw the 350 nits value. But, someone pointed out that they're actually 400 nits. I went back and checked, and they are indeed 400 nits.

Yeah I know. I still just think it’s a bit much in this day and age.

It’s not even a Premier Color one either!
Just a normal “ultra sharp”

(I’m unclear what the differentiation in their lines now is honestly)

I use this monitor. It’s very good but don’t expect inky blacks. Fine for general use but I’d think twice before using it to watch movies.

History keeps repeating itself and there is still no non-Apple monitor that you should buy. The LG 5k comes close but it is from 2016 (!), is ugly and has a lot of minor flaws (we have a few of them in the office). We also have the XDR and it is night and day.

Also it is interesting that:

Will 2 of them daisy chained work with M1 Macs with no adapters needed then?

I'm torn on picking this up. I assume any rumored Apple stand-alone monitor at 27 inch size would be considerably more expensive than this guy, for those more familiar with Apple's pricing than me?

Just been looking for a 4K+ 27inch display with integrated USB-C for a while now. Really dislike the blurriness of fonts on my 27 inch 1440p display.

A 30" 16:10 5120x3200 monitor would be amazing. Basically a retina version of the old Apple 30" Cinema Display. The 27" iMac is a retina version of the old Apple 27" Cinema Display, so it would be a nice progression, but I doubt we will see it.
