If you can no longer get macOS updates through App Store, you will need to manually download and install them from here: https://theapplewiki.com/wiki/Firmware/Mac/10.13.x [EDIT: they do not have the links to the latest available updates]

The links on the website are direct links to Apple servers

As for iTunes, you can download from here: https://theapplewiki.com/wiki/ITunes

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_iTunes the last compatible version for macOS 10.13 is iTunes 12.8.3

I don't know what happened but a few months ago, testing older macOS versions, only High Sierra is unable to check for updates... Could it be that Apple did something in the backend? Maybe...
Based on this thread https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/high-sierra-10-13-6-build-17g66.2169955/
17G66 is 10.13.6 without any of the later security updates.

Based on https://osxdaily.com/2020/11/19/sec...high-sierra-new-macos-11-0-1-build-available/
“Installing security updates with package installers is basically the same as using a combo update for MacOS updates.”

You should install just the last one: Security Update 2020-006 (High Sierra) https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2059

Maybe Apple cleaned up the update package from unnecessary files.
Thanks, that's interesting you couldn't get the updates either. When updating Sierra to HS, there were no updates in the App Store for anything at all. Thankfully, bogdanw rescued me from the locked out iTunes, luckily which was the main concern for phone and back ups. iMovie is another story, but even QuickTime is still ancient and didn't update with HS. Maybe it's their way of telling us that we shouldn't be stuck on the old OS. But ya know, iPhone, iPad, and the MBP is last to get a look in when you're skint, needs must and all that... thank you both

Nothing is ever straight forward huh
Won't let me install, but doesn't exactly make clear why not, and obviously the image on right is not a disk, it's just the download

Try to install first Security Update 2020-005 https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2053 then 2020-006.

"I tried to install Security Update 2020-006 but was rejected. It needs the installation of 2020-005 first."
from https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252972801

It got a lot further than 006, but then fails.... gonna try 004....

UPDATE: OK @bogdanw So doing it from 004, then 5 and then 6 works fine thanks.
Is there a reason it shows up twice in installs?

My available 41GB now says 25GB available after the 3 updates. Has it doubled up on them for a reason,

I’m confused too about Apple’s text:
iTunes 12.8.3 for macOS version 10.11.4 or later
10.11 and 10.12 users download iTunes 12.8.2

What error message do you get when trying to install 12.8.3 on OSX 10.11.6?

When i open the dmg disk trying to install 12.8.3 version said "This content requires OSX 10.13.6 or later"

Try to install MobileDeviceOnDemand.pkg and CoreTypes.pkg, then reboot.

https://swcdn.apple.com/content/dow...jx4lvsm1bhvi7hh52r8d5lz6oj7e4rp/CoreTypes.pkg

https://swcdn.apple.com/content/dow...i7hh52r8d5lz6oj7e4rp/MobileDeviceOnDemand.pkg

The links are presents in High Sierra’s update catalog, but I’m not sure if they are sufficient.

You can also try Apple Configurator https://apps.apple.com/app/id1037126344
The core types was giving me the same download error but the mobile device on demand was able to download and install on High Sierra and it works again
thank you very much!

Hey bogdanw, Since you sorted my last iTunes incompatibility, I've been too nervy about updating iOS since 17.2.1 to whatever is current. Can I assume you've very kindly added these links too swerve the problems?
You are a gent, whatever the reasons! Thank you.

I’ve just used iTunes 12.8.3.1 on High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G14042) to update my iPhone SE from 17.4.1 (21E236) to 17.4.1 (21E237). I installed the new CoreTypes.pkg and MobileDeviceOnDemand.pkg before updating.

It worked better than Apple Configurator on Monterey. :)
