eXan said:No, it doesnt . As you can see in my signature, I have nVidia GeForce 2 MX

blufire said:Archive & Install preserves your settings (basically your user library) in an archive folder. It effectively performs a clean install and then imports your old settings. This saves a lot of time and is often just as good as a clean install in terms of stability. It's generally more reliable than a straight upgrade, but may be not quite as seamless (I still think it's more worth it to do an archive & install). You can then erase the archived system when you've decided that your system has been running well and that you don't need any more of your old system files (I generally wait a few months before deleting the archive).
eXan said:Yes, they do. I think it's Quartz Extreme that animates OS X for me, not Core Image. So the speed is same as it was in Panther. But it is faster than in Panther, as you can see from my Xbench (page 5)

Jigglelicious said:Weird. When I installed Tiger all my effects - expose, genie animation, even scrolling up/down, was very slow and choppy on my eMac with 32mb VRAM. Panther was very smooth, however. I don't understand whats up. I actually reinstalled Panther because it was unbearable.

MacSA said:Does anyone here even have a legitamite version of Tiger? (i.e. not stolen). It seems ever since a vesion appeared on a file sharing site dozens and dozens of people have it - just a coincidence?

Nermal said:Not a coincidence, lots of people downloaded it and announced that they now have it, without actually saying where they got it from. In one thread, people asked for photos of the box, DVD, etc. I'm the only person that supplied a photo (although a couple of other people supplied photos in other threads, such as this one)

Interestingly, it also claims that these mistakenly sent early orders will not be supported by Apple, and must be returned.
Are Apple tracking the package serial numbers? Is this why some early installers aren't able to autoupdate - they're not being supported?
It might be a wise move to sheck this support story out if you've received a legit copy already. It would be annoying to spend a week installing apps and tuning a system that won't be supported.
