Disclaimer - Debbie Downer alert: This seems like the totally wrong time of day/night for the updates to happen. I'd guess that the apple store site is just down for maintenance at the moment and will be back up in about an hour with no changes.

It's 10 gigabits. Not 10 gigabytes. I made the same mistake. Multiply any transfer times that are in your head by 8 and you'll be good.

You'll probably have to read the small print as well. For example, 3 GBit/sec SATA needs ten bits to transfer an eight bit byte, so that is 300 MByte/sec. Quite likely there is something similar with LightPeak.

But the specs looks everything but PRO. I call white MB replacement... even Apple can't be that much behind.

It uses Core i5... What else do you expect? I want more too, but I don't think there's enough room for a dedicated graphic card :(

Anyway I still think this is a very significant improvement over the last model... Core 2 Duo is supposed to be out 18 months ago...

And the Australia store is down as well =)

I'm going to take a shower and watch an episode or two of my favourite TV show, then we'll see if it's back up...

Perhaps surfing, 3d games on the otherhand are mostly unplayable with the 256MB VRAM on the default resolutions and any modern/quality game.

I do hope they include a minimum of 512 else the lower end are once again basicly useless for any gaming but quit old games.

256mb wont hold the texture cache for WoW (or almost any modern games), so these new macbooks will struggle to run WoW on even medium settings, however my early 08 macbook pro, with the 8600m GT 512mb runs with all settings (bar water that i turn down one notch) on highest runs fine.

And Starcraft 2 will probably need lowest texture settings.

love the apple logic on this one, lets save a few pennies and raise our profits by cutting corners, people will still buy it because its pretty, :apple: are becoming more abut brand than quality/performance than ever before, im not a happy mac owner at the moment.

I'm just hoping they will be updating now, or else I'll have to wait until tonight. It's Thursday 24th and the time is 11:41 am here in Denmark (Scandinavia)!

Specs for 15 are out:
6490M 256mb of GPU slower than current graphic card. No SSD+HD combo either just a regular 5400rpm 500gb hard drive. this update is very disappointing.

I like Light Peak better than Thunderbolt.

Guess ThunderCats was already

On a side note, just how hard will Intel push this new standard? I haven't seen jack in upcoming consumer items that make mention of supporting this port (and some of my friends are big into cameras and the like)

Yes, this spec is really lame. Most of the people will still buy it anyway. So hoping for an SSD high end Version with decent graphics..., but I don't believe it anymore.

the 15 inch however does get i7...that's the only thing going for it though, the same slow 5400rpm drive, slower GPU (Radeon HD 6490M), and sadly the lack of standard SSD for OSX boot up....
