Mac|Life claims that OS X 10.5.7, the next update to Leopard, will be released on Friday.
If you've been champing at the bit for the magic of 10.5.7, according to a super-secret Apple source, your champing can cease on Friday. The newest version of Leopard is slated to fix a slew of networking, syncing and bluetooth issues.
Mac|Life also reports that there is speculation that this will be the final update to Leopard before the launch of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, which appears to be slated for a release later this year.

Development on Mac OS X 10.5.7 has appeared to be winding down for quite some now as Apple has made very few changes in each incremental build released to developers for testing purposes. The most recent seed was released to developers in the middle of last week.

Nice to see the proper spelling of "champing at the bit."

Looking forward to the release, too. :)

If 10.5.7 is the final iteration of Leopard, i'll eat my underwear after wearing them non stop for a month.

... the launch of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, which appears to be slated for a release later this year.

Well, yeah. That's a big window, though.
We're probably all hoping for a release to swiftly follow WWDC in June.

That means we'll probably see it in October.

Really hope this solves the freezing issues on unibody Macbook Pros.

Mine usually freezes once or twice a day during WoW, but I've had it freeze while using Photoshop, Netflix Streaming and VMWare Fusion a couple of times.

I'm positive it's a driver issue, as it's never happened to me in Vista/Bootcamp mode.

I always enjoy an update that makes a stable operating system even more stable. I was hoping that it would fix this issue that my mbp has where it takes forever to boot. I just realized though that I need a permission repair, and a file system repair. Oops. lol:D

That would break a trend, wouldn't it? 2.8;3.9;4.11;... 10.5 should end >11.

So can we predict that 10.5.7 will come out before 10.6.0, then have a final 10.5.8 release with 10.6 (or just after) as a "final" edition?

It is definitely due this week, according to the engineer that contacted me. Please oh please let it fix my stuttering mouse/keyboard caused by HD 4870

So Friday we see 10.5.7 and an update to Safari 4.0 Beta eh?

My guess is we see SL 10A355 at WWDC. Released that day.

No release in the 6 week gap between 23rd April to WWDC?
IF 10.5.7 does reference some interesting stuff, wouldn't there be time to have another build in between one released at WWDC?
