DO NOT DO THIS!!! The wet-adhesive vinyl films SUCK on the screen. They're great for the back / casing, but for the screen stick with the static cling type. A good one will be indistinguishable from the naked screen. SGP Steinheil is my personal preference, but there are other good ones out there.

I have to agree with you here on the SGP one. I have one for my Samsung Galaxy S2 and it's as smooth as the original glass. It's made in Japan and has a very thing high quality feel that is super smooth and NO decrease in touch sensitivity. I've used Bestskinsever and they are OK but noticed that it decreased the touch sensitivity vs the naked screen on my iPod 4G.

Is any company claiming yet to make a rear film that fits the back of the new iPad? Do we know yet? Please post when you find a maker who has one. Thanks!

SkinIt sent me a note on Thursday claiming to have skins ready for the new iPad. I have never used their products but my employer is associated with them in some way so I get discount emails in my work email all the time. (So, yea, disclaimer that I am very loosely affiliated, I guess)

Wow, thanks for letting me know. I'm a first time iPad owner, so I have no frame of refrence for covers for them. I'm glad I saw this before I bought anything for my preordered iPad. I really wanted that ZaggSkin on the back because it came in a pattern I really liked. Where do you find the SGP skins?
Now I'm worried I have the wrong kind of screen protector on my iPhone 4...

Where do you find the SGP skins?

Manufacturer website is: http://www.spigen.com/
http://www.spigen.com/tablets/apple/spigen-sgp-ipad-2-3g-wifi-screen-protector-steinheil-series.html

I've seen them at Microcenter B&M, but my preferred source is Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/SPIGEN-SGP-Protector-Steinheil-Crystal/dp/B004S8A6SQ/

NOTE: SGP has both matte (UF & OU) and crystal (SQ) styles; I prefer the crystal as it's just like the stock screen. Others have said they like the matte versions, just a matter of personal preference.

ALSO - someone else pointed out that SGP states on their Amazon posting that *if* the iPad2 version doesn't fit the 3rd gen, they will replace it with one which does once they make it. See the Amazon product listing for the specific text. I've ordered one so I have it ready for Friday. :D

Who's got the best anti-smudge, anti-glare skin to get?

So I take the general consensus is that the Zagg ones suck? I was going to put an Invisishield on the front and one of the ZaggSkins on the back...but now I'm having second thoughts.

Zagg was the thing to have back when they came out. But competition and pricing has pushed them out.

I don't see the need for a screen protector your not going to be shoving it in a pocket with keys and coins. Just go with a smart cover to prevent damage when your not using it.

The real glass feeling makes the experience so much better.

If you want something semi-stylish for the back you could try a Gelaskin (or SkinIt or Decalgirl). It's 3M adhesive material, and when I peel mine off next week to sell, the aluminum back won't have a single nick or scratch. That'll help my resale value since I can say "flawless" with no scratches on the back or front.

I used a screen protector (Ghost Armor front/back/sides) for iPad 1, but used no protector on the front for iPad 2 and it was a MUCH better touch experience -- more responsive to a lighter touch.

Not planning to put a front protector on the new iPad either -- I want that retina display to be as gorgeous as possible. :) Back screen I'll go with Gelaskin again. It's expensive at 29.95, but well worth the price.

Exactly why I advise against the wet-apply vinyl skin type screen protectors such as the Zagg and Ghost Armor. (I'm going from GA's install instructions, so I might be wrong).

The feel of the static-cling style ones like SGP or PowerSupport are *COMPLETELY* different and good ones are virtually indistinguishable from the naked glass.

I've been using screen protectors since the Palm Pilot days, through various Palm devices, Compaq iPaqs, Treos, Blackberries, etc. A little bit of experience I think. :D

what's the clearest fingerprint resistant screen protector?

I currently use the moshi ivisor for the 4s, but was thinking about going UO for the new ipad, or SQ. The reason i'm a bit hesistant on the SQ is b/c I've read it collects fingerprints like crazy, does this mean I have to constantly wipe it?

can you provide a link for the SGP new iPad protector, or iPad 2??

Hate to be the cheapskate here...but :p

Does anyone know where to get just a cheap basic film or shell to protect the back? I'm not interested in a special space age film to protect the screen, I just need something to protect the back from scratches and I'm not going to pay $40 for it - less than $10 preferably.

Anyone have any experience with the cheapo ones on eBay? Do they do the basic job?

I can't say enough about skins from Sticker boy. I had the titainium colored carbon texture skin on my iPad 2 for almost a year, and it looked brand new when I removed it last week to sell the iPad. The 3M Di-Noc film comes in several textures and colors.
Through 3/16 the new iPad skins are buy 1 get 1 free. The back skin is only $15.

This. Even $17 + Shipping just for the back skin cover is ridiculous.

Best Skins Ever is the one to get:

Imho they are, uh, the best skins ever for your iPad :D

I put one of these (front/back) on my iPad 2 and I love it with the Smart Cover

I tried one of the eBay cheap-os with my iPad 1 and it was a disaster to put on, it fogged up and turned a yellowish color. Unless their skins have improved, it is a get-what-you-pay-for.

First Wrapsol mention here ... I've used Wrapsol and Invisishield and prefer Wrapsol hands down. I love their matte finish for the black - it's as if nothing is on there. On the front, they have a dry application that takes a couple minutes to apply. Both the front and back are great IMO.

I still love the Zagg LeatherSkin on my iPad 1. Feels great. Not slippery even when your fingers get sweaty.

The adhesive and leather on mine have held up perfectly on mine for two years.

SGP front screen protector and back protector are hands down the best. However BSE (best skin ever) also has a great back skin as well for a great price. BSE & SGP & Power Support are the best but power support is just so dam expensive. All 3 are way better the Zagg. My New IPad will have Front-SGP Clear BACK-bestskinever

Zagg user here. Been using them for a few years now on several devices.

Tried BSE and Bodyguardz, not bad but didn't feel like they were protecting as well. Not sure, but hear Zagg is a little draggy because it's thicker and therefore protects better.

What I can say is that they have protected every device I've owned flawlessly. I put them on iPod Touches and let a 2yr old and 5 yr old beat the living crap out of them. After a year, they were in perfect condition without a scratch anywhere. Helps for flipping up to the next model.

But really, whatever floats your boat. I won't pretend I can't tell the diff between them and the naked glass. But damn I would be pissed the first time I scratched mine, so I recommend getting something you like.

Anyone tried Wrapsol? I'm interested in the comparisons between Wrapsol and the other brands?

I emailed Bodyguardz, they told me the clear back skin for the new iPad will ship on the 19th, beginning with orders placed first.

I believe Wrapsol also has the new iPad front and back dry applications available for ordering as well.

I can confirm that BSE for the ipad 2 fits perfectly on the new ipad (front and back). I had a spare one which I've successfully installed on my new ipad. I hope this helps someone.

I believe Wrapsol has the ultra front dry application and the original back wet application...:D
