Just been to the apple store and been told the new processers are delayed until June or July. With Mountain Lion out around September does that mean no new iMac before then. Or was he just trying to convince me to buy today? Don't think my PC or me can wait that long.

Depends on what you were asking about (and possibly, their confusion level on recent announcements). Most desktop chips come out April 29. Most laptop chips come out June 3.

And, once again, there's no reason to delay a refresh (or a purchase) so that it can come pre-installed with a $30 operating system upgrade. Mountain Lion says nothing about any hardware release dates.

I have a 2008 iMac 24. I'm a photographer and need something faster esp when I get the Nikon d800. It has 36mp and USB 3. I'm so ready to put the iMac on Craigslist and pull the trigger but something is telling me to wait.

QUOTE=TopToffee;14635914]Could you buy it tomorrow then please ;-)

My trusty iMac G5 has been suffering the 'red lines of death', but my insurance company gave me £1,000 for a replacement.

Having to wait for the new release is driving me insane!

I'm reckon on a June release.

While the people at the genius bar are very kind, helpfull, and informed people, the people working on the floor are salespeople. They don't really know what their talking about and will say just about anything to get you to walk out with the most expensive mac you CANT afford. I've heard of them telling people that their warranty would be void if they upgrade the ram themselves. I had one tell me that I wouldn't have any warranty beyond a week if I diddnt buy AppleCare. They are some deprate salespeople.

Also, they know nothing. Just because they work for apple dosent mean they know when product releases are going to happen. They know when we know. Really, you have a much more informed crowd on this forum, and we don't know to much yet. My guess is,
Minor refresh-next week or two
Major redesign-5 weeks (around WWDC)

You've waited this long, keep up the hope.

After WWDC

I don't think we will hear any news about new Apple hardware until after WWDC. I expect sometime around mid to late July. I think then we will see a massive refresh of the entire Mac lineup -- yes -- even the Mac Pro along with the release of Mountain Lion.

After WWDC but before July

You are forgetting the Apple product cycles and audiences. This upgrade has been the longest -- 383 days of today, 70 days longer than any previous wait so it's due -- that being said I think after WWDC is the best guess so the laptop line upgrades can take the spotlight that week and shortly after that.

Remember Apple has their Back To School promotion every summer and I am thinking that they'd want their product lines for these buyers -- laptops and desktops -- stable through that summer promotion, which usually begins in late June or early July.

I think the announcements at WWDC will make the bump up in the new models seems logical when they occur. The only thing that makes me think that the iMac update will actually occur at WWDC would be a new product design, another iMac update that is long overdue. I don't think they'd roll out a new design without that speech. If you recall they have said that all of their product lines will be revamped in 2012.

With my 2007 Mac Pro on the fritz I'm anxious but willing to wait for the upgrade which I expect in the next 30 to 40 days.

Pleeeeeeze!:)

Finally moving to Mac......

I can't wait tell the new iMac. My kids and I have been 100% Linux for 2 years and my wife is on Windows. I want to move my family to Apple ASAP. I can't wait tell the new version......

Step 1 - Get Family iMac
Step 2 - Replace Ubuntu laptop with a MBA for me!!

:)

Congrats to you! To bad it has nothing to do with this thread.:(

Shouldn't you be off somewhere designing clunky looking products with no style (or shiny, as you call it)...

So, because I don't think Apple should compromise components and functionality to further slim down the iMac (at this time) you need to follow me around and make childish comments? Real classy troll.

I'm betting we'll get news about the next iMac and MBA on June 11.

My theory is the iMac will be largely unchanged, maybe a little thinner but will feature the new ivy bridge and faster CPUs, better specs all round and the 'one more thing' will be the new MBA/MBP range.

i really hope so..but if this is case..
why don't release Imacs now
with a "silent" specs bump..
if they wait there must be a reason for...
as well for all this silence made of lack of rumors
all around all! Macs...:cool::rolleyes:

I'm going with May 6 (a week after the Ivy Bridge processors are released)
A big retail chain in my country says that the current iMacs are not available (Why? WTF?), and they expect that the current models are available again on 7. June 2012 (WTF?). I think they wait for Apples announcement (WWDC 11. June 2012) and know something.
